The Buccaneers today made it a very Merry Christmas for Raheem Morris, naming him as the teams new defensive coordinator, taking the role for Monte Kiffin, who is leaving to coach with his son Lane at Tennessee.
Morris, who is in the second season as the teams secondary coach, and is in his second stint with the Bucs, will take over as the defensive mastermind beginning in 2009. Monte Kiffin had been with the Bucs since 1996, when he was hired into the position of defensive coordinator by former coach Tony Dungy.
The one interesting piece about Morris is his name is already being mentioned for possible head coaching jobs around the league, meaning that while he is the Bucs new D coordinator today, he may get an even bigger promotion in a few weeks.
