Not being the feature back anymore with the Cardinals has not sat well with running back Edgerrin James, and reports are now stating that James recently asked the Cardinals to release him.  James has kept quiet about his lack of playing time to new rookie Tim Hightower, who has played well, but behind the scenes wants out of the desert.

Rod Graves did say that he got a call from James’ agent - Drew Rosenhaus, but declined to give in to what the agent wants, and would rather have James on the roster for teams upcoming playoff run.  “I explained to him that we still saw Edgerrin as a valuable member of our football team,” Graves said.

Since losing his starting job to Hightower a few weeks back, James has been a ghost for the team, having just three carries for five yards.  Graves said he has talked to James since his agents call to release him.  “He said he was still fully committed to this team and he would not be a distraction,” Graves said. “He’s been doing everything we asked him to do.”
