It appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 overtime victory Monday Night was a costly one. In his post game press conference Head Coach Mike Tomlin announced that guard Kendall Simmons and rookie running back Rashard Menenhall will be placed in IR and lost for the year.

Simmons injury appeared to have happened during the second quarter of play. He left with an Achillies injury and did not return to action.

Mendenhall who ran hard in his first NFL start, left on his first carry of the third quarter. Coach Tomlin said the rookie running back out of Illinois fractured his shoulder. He had 9 attemots for 30 yards.

With Willie Parker likely out this Sunday also with a sprained knee that leaves Mewelde Moore as the only healthy running back on the Steelers roster.  Look for the Steelers to promote Gary Russell from the practice squad.
