Millen No Longer A Lion
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under Detroit Lions, Off The Field News
What has been talked about for what seems like an eternity and no doubt has been water cooler material in and around Detroit offices - in this case Matt Millen and his future - has finally come to pass; according to FOXSports.com on Wednesday, Millen is leaving his position as the Detroit Lions president/CEO. What wasn’t clear was whether Millen had resigned or had been fired.
The report by FOXSports.com also stated that Millen had informed a number of Lions employees of the change on Wednesday morning and had large packing boxes in his office; the move comes 2 days after the son of team owner William Clay Ford, Bill Ford, Jr., publicly said that if he was in charge that Millen would have been fired. If I didn’t know any better, I would venture to say that the elder staesman listened to his son finally. Under Millen’s watch, the Lions went 31-84 and won only 1 playoff game and until very recently had ignored fans’ pleas to get rid of Millen.
