Meester

Jacksonville Jaguars Center, Brad Meester, is out for two months, with a torn bicep, which occurred during practice. As reported in ESPN, Coach Jack Del Rio said: “We’re talking about having a shot at him by week four, week five, certainly for our bye week, which comes in week seven,” “We’re going to get him for the last 10 games of our regular season and hopefully we earn our way beyond that.” Meester, has missed some time in the past four years, with biceps and and ankle injuries. A center is very valuable, on any team, mostly because he is the ‘captain’ of the offensive line, making all the line audibles. Another overlooked part of the game is the center-quarterback exchange. A clean exchange allows the QB to get the ball out faster.

Dennis Norman, a eight year vet out of Princeton, is second on the depth chart. Making matters worse, Wideout Reggie Williams has arthroscopic knee surgery, but he’s only out for two to three weeks. Williams had ten touchdowns last year. If he can’t go, the Jags have insurance with free agent signee Jerry Porter, and trade acquisition Troy Williamson. The Jags have high expectations for this year, but they have to get rid of the injury bug.
