Favre

Game on.

Earlier today I wrote a piece about Minnesota putting their stock in QB Tarvaris Jackson and trusting him with the offense this season.  In some ways, its a very risky move.  Now while the Vikings have been saying all along that Jackson is there man, it was before someone else got into the mix.  Brett Favre.

The word is Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, sent a letter to the Pack asking for his release.  Some sources, including Sports Radio 1250 Milwaukee are reporting that the Vikings have already sent out feelers about signing Favre, as long as he gets released and they lose nothing in the process.

Favre to the Vikings would be the story of the year in the NFL.  A Hall of Fame to be QB leaves Green Bay to play for the rival Vikings?! And how do you think Jackson feels right now?  He’s probably sick to his stomach to say the least.  And just in case you forgot, guess who opens up Monday Night Football this year - the Vikings and the Packers in Green Bay.

That was also the night they were supposed to retire Farve’s number.  Now it could very well be the night they try to stop him from spoiling their season opener, and from trying to dethrone the Pack as the division champs.  This saga is going to steal all the NFL headlines, as well it should - it makes for some of the best drama this offseason to date.

i know i might get aboslutely verbally abused by these comments but i dont understand why brett favre is so deserving of this “he can do what he wants when he wants” pass. The man has only won one superbowl and 1 super bowl out of 11 playoff appearances isn’t exactly legend status. Also whenever i watch packers games i see somewhere around 3 tds and 2 picks a game. And picks usually cost your team games (cough nfc championship cough). So im sorry but i dont understand why brett can continually tell the packers hes retired then not retired and not get media abuse from it. And i dont understand why people think the man can just walk into a lowly franchise and suddenly make them contenders to beat the Cowboys or Giants in the nfc, and then if they make it past that, the Pats, Colts, or Bolts. Someone please enlighten me as to why brett favre is such an amazing and elite quarterback (i wonder if its only because he is such a great person, and if he had an attitude problem like t.o. would we respect him so much?) and why he should be able to take over the packers franchise when he has won only one superbowl. Im a pats fan, i live in conn so i really have no idea what goes on in Green bay so i dont know if it has something to do with how he his to that community but please someone make me understand why he is such a “god”

Well IMO someone who loses to Vick in the playoffs at HOME isnt a god. I hope the Pack does not release him. I hope they make him back up Favre. That would be so awesome. Plus did anyone see his last game. Nice pick when the game was on the line. Before Favre no GB ever lost a home playoff game. Thanks to his holiness they have now lost 3 of their past 4 home playoff games.
