Bears Dump Safety Archuleta After Just One Season

The Bears have dumped underachieving safety Adam Archuleta after just one year in the Windy City. Archuleta came to the Bears last season after the team moved a sixth-round pick to the Redskins for his services. He did start 10 games, and played in 14 overall, but was mostly a non-factor and took a lot of heat for not being the player he was in his prime years with the Rams.

The 30-year-old had 63 tackles in his one year with the Bears, with two sacks and one pick. He also had one forced fumble. As stated in the story on ChicagoBears.com, Archuleta had a tough time in run support as well as pass coverage, and was not able to do much after breaking his hand in week three vs the Cowboys.

His best seasons came back from 2001 through 2005, as he started 12 games and helped St. Louis reach the Super Bowl before registering career highs with 116 tackles in 2002 and five sacks in 2003. He is now an unrestricted free agent.
