Neal

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the San Diego Chargers are seeking to trade their 37-year-old veteran FB Lorenzo Neal.  Neal is on the trading block after asking Chargers GM A.J. Smith for his release, which was denied.  Neal wishes to part ways with the Chargers after losing his starting job to FB Andrew Pinnock in 2007 and fearing a limited role with the team in 2008.

Chargers GM Smith told the newspaper, “I talked with Coach Turner, Lorenzo and (agent) Steve Feldman regarding his future:We will explore trade opportunities and see if anything works out for all parties.”

Lo-Neal, as nicknamed by his teammates, helped LaDanian Tomlinson to his record breaking season in 2006.  Before Neal’s time with the Chargers he blocked for the likes of Curtis Martin, Warrick Dunn, and Corey Dillon.
