Posted in A few Green Bay Packers players helped distribute more than 13,000 cans of Campbell’s Chunky soup to 15 Wisconsin food banks on Thursday at Lambeau Field.
An additional 1,000 cans will be split amongst two Brown County pantries.
Players included Brady Poppinga, Cullen Jenkins and Noah Herron, Packers strength and conditioning coordinator Rock Gullickson, assistant strength and conditioning coach Mark Lovat and strength and conditioning assistant Brandon Johnson.
The soup donation — representing the weight of the official team roster in soup cans — was in recognition of the Packers sixth straight year garnering most online votes in the annual Click for Cans online food drive.
The Packers drew 2.5 million votes, surpassing last season’s record by more than 1.4 million clicks. Packers fans have won nearly 80,000 cans of soup for local food banks.
Since 1997, Campbell’s has partnered with the NFL on the Tackling Hunger program. In 10 years, Chunky soup has donated more than 35 million cans to hunger relief charities nationwide.
