Could Thomas Wind Up in New England in 2008?
Posted by Matt Loede under Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots

Now that Zach Thomas is a free man, one Miami writer feels that Thomas will end up in of all places in 2008 - New England. Dave George of the Palm Beach Post put the rumor out there that Thomas will get courted by the Pats, and will end up north next season, gaining a measure of revenge twice against the team that released him on Thursday - the Dolphins. Thomas was let go due to his large cap number ($6 mil) as well as the fact he is now 34 and has a history of concussions.
For the Pats, the move would make sense, as they are getting long in the tooth at the linebacker spot (not that Thomas is a spring chicken) and could mold Thomas into their system with ease as they did Junior Seau last season when he came out of retirement to play for New England. Look for Thomas to get feelers from a number of teams that would like to have a class guy as well as a player that could make an impact for at least a few games.
As for playing with the Pats - the move would make sense, now the question would be are the Pats interested in Thomas, and can the two sides agree on a deal that would make sense for both. We shall see.
