Report: Goodell To Meet With Specter Today

The “New York Times” says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will meet with U.S. Senator Arlen Specter on Wednesday to talk about the New England Patriots “Spygate” scandal. The paper says the meeting is expected to take place at 3 p.m. Eastern in the office of Specter, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. On February 1st, Specter said he wanted to know why the NFL destroyed evidence related to spying by the Patriots. Goodell said later that day that he stood by his decision to destroy notes and videotapes confiscated in their investigation.
The league fined Patriots head coach Bill Belichick 500-thousand-dollars for the use of equipment to videotape the New York Jets’ defensive signals in Week One. Goodell also fined the club 250-thousand-dollars and stripped the Patriots of their first-round draft choice in 2008.
