Security Preparations Underway For Super Bowl
Posted by Matt Loede under New England Patriots, New York Giants
In a post 9-11 world, tight security at high-profile events is the norm and the Super Bowl is no exception. This week security will be ramping up in Arizona as Super Bowl preparations get underway. Local, state and federal officials plan to be on the ground and in the air watching over the more than 150-thousand visitors expected in Glendale. Customs and Border Protection agent Brian Levin says they will also be helping out with screening vehicles coming close to the stadium.
He says this is technology they use at the border everyday. He says at the border ports of entry, it will be business as usual. Agents assigned to the border are already trained to screen for anyone on the terror watch list or for fugitives as well as illegal drugs. But with the Super Bowl taking place, they will they will also be looking for anyone attempting to smuggle in counterfeit NFL merchandise, hats, jackets or other unlicensed illegal items.
