The total has gone over 40 points in 8 straight games for the Green Bay Packers. The Giants scored 20 or more points in two straight weeks on the road against strong defenses. While the Giants have improved on both sides of the ball since the match-up between these two teams in week 2, Green Bay did put up 35 points in that game. I have more confidence in the Packers defense than i did for either Dallas or Tampa. However, Eli Manning and the offensive play-calling have both been ultra efficient. Despite being beaten handily in time of possession last week at Texas Stadium, New York scored 20. Rookie WR Steve Smith has added a dimension to the offense in the playoffs since his return from injury. He missed 12 regular season games with a stress fracture in his shoulder. Lately he has been a tremendous safety valve for Manning when the Giants go to 3 wide receiver sets. The public wagered heavily earlier in the week on the under, after hearing about the frigid temperatures for this game. I don’t feel the 0 degree temperature will be enough to hold back these two offenses. Windy conditions hurt offenses more than the cold, and the wind should gradually die down as the game plays out. Take the over at 41 points, and hope that Favre takes advantage of the Giants relatively weak and injured secondary.
