A game winning kick

There was a flare for drama in day one of the NFL Playoffs. Both winning teams had leads going into the fourth quarter of 13 or more and both teams lost their leads minutes into the fourth quarter.

Seattle was up by 13 over the Washington Redskins and not more than a few minutes into the fourth quarter found themselves trailing by 1. The Jacksonville Jaguars had an even more commanding lead over Pittsburgh up by 18 when the Steelers came back to put 19 on the board.

For a few moments each team seemed to be staring down the jaws of defeat with time dwindling down off the clocks, but the game would not be over yet. The Seattle Seahawks would score a touchdown on the possession following a failed field goal to seal themselves a victory, and ran two interceptions back for Touch Downs just for good measure. The Jaguars would go for an even more dramatic approach by scoring a last second field goal to regain the lead.

No team wants to be the ones to go home next, and we all saw the Redskins and the Steelers fight with all they had to stay in, but ultimately it was the teams that remained undaunted by the scoreboard change that would finally win the game. Seattle will go on to face Green Bay next week, while the Jags will likely go on to face the Patriots unless the Tennessee Titans pull off a win against the San Diego Chargers.
