Redskins quarterback Todd Collins and Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor highlight the NFL Players for the Month of December. Collins took the NFC offensive side of the award after leading Washington to four straight wins in the month. He completed 67-of-105 passes for 88 yards and five scores without being picked off. The streak for the ‘Skins secured the final playoff spot in the conference. Packers safety Atari Bigby was named the NFC’s defensive Player of the Month. He tied for the team lead with four interceptions as Green Bay went 3-and-1. On special teams, Matt Bryant was second-best in the conference with 42 points and 10 field goals. The Tampa Bay kicker set career-highs with 28 field goals made and 118 points for the season.
In the AFC, Taylor ran for 494 yards and three scores on 64 carries. He posted a league-high 123.5 rushing yards and four straight 100-yard games. The Jaguars were 4-and-1 in December. On defense, cornerback Antonio Cromartie had four picks for the Chargers. In Week 13, he had his third multi-interception game of 2007, on his way to a franchise-best 10 picks for the season. Kick returner Andre Davis was the AFC’s special teams Player of the Month. He averaged 34.9 yards per return for the Texans and had three returns for scores.
