The tundra will likely be frozen on Sunday in Green Bay, as the Raiders attempt to pull off what would be considered a huge upset as they travel to Wisconsin to take on the Packers Sunday. Oakland has suddenly turned into a team that has played the spoiler role, beating West rival KC and Denver the last two weeks. At 4-8, they have started to turn the corner, a team that can possibly be considered up and coming in 2008.
That’s not the story for the Packers, who at 10-2 are in prime position to be the number two seed in the NFC. They are coming off a loss to the Cowboys which likely means that they will have one home game in January vs probably the #3 seed and then would have to travel to Dallas for the NFC Championship game. While we are getting a little far ahead, that seems to be the way things will play out for the cheeseheads over the next 6-7 weeks.
On to Sunday, where one big storyline will be Brett Favre, the SI Sportsman of the Year, and his playing status. He was injured in the Cowboys loss, but it appears that he will be on the field, as usual, for this matchup with the Raiders. He has a bruised right elbow and aggravated a left shoulder separation, but has declared that he’ll be on the field. He’ll have the help of running back Ryan Grant, who has played well since being the starter for the past few weeks.
The Packers defense should have a big game vs the Raiders as well. They have been solid all season despite not playing all that well last Thursday vs the Cowboys. At home they always seem to step up, so against QB Josh McCown and running back Justin Fargas, the Raiders should find moving the ball to be very tough. You can look for a little #1 pick JaMarcus Russell as well, but even he should have an education by the time the day is over.
Look for the Pack to have a strong comeback outing vs Oakland. While the Raiders have been and will continue to improve in some areas, this is a very tough spot for them, and as long as Favre can be the gamer that he is, the Pack will win and win big at Lambeau.

I smell UPSET!!! The Raiders are one of the top rushing teams in the NFL, and in the nasty conditions of Green Bay this weekend that should come in very handy.
