Another strange yet exciting week around the National Football League, and here we go again with our winners and losers for week 12.
Winners
————-
Philadelphia Eagles – Disagree with me if you’d like, but the Eagles gave the unbeatable Pats everything they could handle and more last night in New England. A.J. Feeley was supposed to be crushed by the Pats D, and while he did make his mistakes, he also kept Philly in the game. At least this was one worth staying up and watching.
Losers
———–
The Broncos coaching staff – Hello? Has anyone in this league learned yet that you DON’T kick to Devin Hester?! He not only took one, BUT TWO kicks back for scores in the Bears comeback 37-34 overtime win. Hester is superhuman when it comes to returning kicks, but the Broncos would have been better served just to not let him get his hands on the ball at all.
Winner
———–
Antonio Gates – The Chargers TE helped out the teams cause Sunday in their big win over the Ravens with two TD catches and 6 catches overall for 105 yards. Gates is still having a solid year with 60 catches for 834 yards and eight TD’s. He opens up the field and they should look to get him the ball even more when the offense is in a rut.
Loser
———
Eli Manning – Evidently the pressure was on yesterday at the Meadowlands with big brother Peyton watching. Manning was awful, throwing four picks, three of which were returned for scores, and at one point scrambling around and taking a 26-yard sack. The Giants simply cannot afford for him to go in the tank like last season, but yesterday does not make many have hope that won’t happen.
Winner
———–
David Garrard – Talk about coming out of nowhere to have a great season. Garrard, who was not even supposed to be a starter this year, has shown everyone why it was a smart move ot get rid of Byron Leftwich before the start of 2007. The Jags QB has led the team to an impressive 8-3 mark, and while he missed a few games with an injury, he has played great – 8 games, 1626 yards throwing, 9 TD’s and zero picks.
Loser
———
Gus Frerotte & David Carr – There is a reason why these guys are nothing more than career backups, and Sunday for the Rams and Panthers they showed it. Frerotte fumbled on 4th and goal at the one with a chance to win the game for the Rams, while Carr was just awful and finally got pulled after going 10-for-22 for 95 yards with two picks against the Saints. Some guys are just meant to sit the bench – here are two of them.
