New Orleans Saints' Marques Colston (12) catches a touchdown pass as Carolina Panthers' Deke Cooper (35) and Chris Harris (43) defend during the third quarter of the Saints' 31-6 win in an NFL football game in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007.

It took them till the third quarter to do it, but the New Orleans Saints finally found their offense again, and once they did, the Carolina Panthers could do nothing to stop them. Drew Brees threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns, and the Saints scored on their first three second half possessions as they pounded the Panthers 31-6 in Carolina. The Saints broke their two game losing streak and kept their playoff hopes alive, moving to 5-6.

For the Panthers, they have already packed their bags for the 2007 season. Their offense was MIA on Sunday, as they had to start David Carr at QB, and he was awful, going 10-for-22 with 95 yards and two picks. Rookie Matt Moore played a bit in relief of Carr, and was not that much better, going 8-for-14 for 66 yards with a pick. The Panthers amazingly still have yet to win a home game in 2007.

“I know everyone wants to pin it on the quarterback,” Panthers coach John Fox said. “I think it’s fairly evident it’s not just the quarterback. Right now we’re just not a very good football team … and the buck stops here.” Fox had better be careful, as even with all the injuries the team has had, he very well may find himself on the street as the season draws down to the final five games. The Panthers are now 4-7.

It was a must win for the Saints, and with it they got back on track after a first half when they to punt six times and turned the ball over once. Brees knew they had to pick it up in the second half. “We talked at halftime and we knew that we had to do whatever it takes. You saw that coming out, three consecutive touchdowns.”

The Saints will look to get some revenge next week as they take on the first place Bucs at the SuperDome. The Panthers will be at home to take on the 49′ers at 1pm in hopes of their first home win of the year.
