Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis reacts on the sidelines during the Ravens
Charger fans cut QB Philip Rivers some slack - for one week, anyways. He performed admirably as he threw two touchdown passes to his favorite target, tight end Antonio Gates, leading San Diego to an impressive 32-14 win over the Baltimore Ravens at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

The first quarter was uneventful, although Rivers looked like his old self. But Rivers won over the crowd in the second quarter, as he would throw 2 TD passes - one to Gates and one to wide receiver Chris Chambers - which along with 3 field goals by kicker Nate Kaeding, would give San Diego a 22-7 halftime lead. For all intents and purposes, the game was over.

Despite the shellacking by the Chargers, San Diego had something else to celebrate. RB LaDanian Tomlinson reached the exclusive 10,000 yard club; he reached that plateau on a 36-yard run early in the 3rd quarter, making him the 23rd player in NFL history to reach that historic milestone.

San Diego’s Rivers had one of his better efforts, going 25-of-35 for 249 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. Tomlinson, even though he hit the 10,000 yard milestone, rushed for only 77 yards, but he also caught 6 balls for 45 yards. Gates was the Chargers’ leading receiver with 6 catches for 105 yards and 2 scores; WR Vincent Jackson added 65 yards on 5 receptions. Baltimore QB Kyle Boller had an OK game, going 21-for-33 for 191 and a TD. RB Willis McGahee rushed for 59 yards and a score; WR Derrick Mason led all Ravens receivers with 7 catches for 99 yards. San Diego (6-5), winners of 5 of their past 7 games after an awful start, look to continue their hot play when they fly east to Kansas City to face the Chiefs in an important AFC West matchup next Sunday. Baltimore (4-7), losers of 5 straight, return home to host the New England Patriots in a Monday night matchup.
