Hall Of Famer Jim Ringo Dies At 75

Ringo, a Hall of Fame center who played 15 seasons for the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 after a short illness. He was two days shy of his 76th birthday.

Hall of Fame center and former NFL head coach Jim Ringo has died.  The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s official website said Ringo passed away early Monday morning after battling a short illness.  Ringo spent 15 seasons in the NFL.  He played for the Green Bay Packers from 1953-1963, and the Philadelphia Eagles from 1964-67.  Ringo was voted to 10 Pro Bowls, and was selected as a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1960s.  He also appeared in a then-record 182 straight games from 1954 to 1967.  In 1976 and 1977, Ringo was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.  He guided the team to a 3-and-20 record during his two-year tenure.  Ringo was inducted into the Hall as a player in 1981.  Ringo’s death comes two days shy of his 76th birthday.
