McNair with Sore Shoulder; Could be Shown the Bench
Posted by Matt Loede under Baltimore Ravens

The writing is already on the wall for Ravens head coach Brian Billick to turn to Kyle Boller to be his starting QB Sunday when the Ravens host the Browns. Monday Billick stated that starter Steve McNair, who was pulled in the 4th quarter of Sunday’s 21-7 loss to the Bengals, has “substantial soreness” in his non-throwing shoulder. The injury, combined already with his groin and back injuries, opens the door for Boller to be his starter.
“Right now, the injury is what we will have to address first and foremost, to see exactly what that is,” Billick said. “I’ll have to visit with Steve to see first how he is doing physically, to see where he’s at, and factor that into it.” McNair was flat out awful in the Cincy game, as he was held to just 128 yards against the leagues worst defense. He was trying to come back after a bad game in Pittsburgh, when he was held under 100 yards passing and lost two fumbles.
“We’ve got some more work to do before I can definitively tell you that’s the direction we’re going,” Billick said. “… I have a great deal of faith in Kyle. What I’m waiting on is more information to be available to us before going forward.” The team did give Boller a contract extension earlier this season, but also remember he and his poor play is the reason the team went out and got McNair in the first place.
