One could say that the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon played like their football lives depended on it. Jags running back Maurice Jones-Drew ran for a touchdown and quarterback Quinn Gray threw for a touchdown as the Jaguars defeated the Tennessee Titans 28-13 in Nashville.
The Jaguars accomplished 2 goals this game – they won a key divisional game which has playoff ramifications and they atoned for giving up 282 rushing yards to Tennessee in the season opener. They held the Titans to 62 total rushing yards. Speaking of Titans rushing, the Jaguars held Titans RB LenDale White to 12 rushing yards.
The Titans also lost White to a knee injury during the game; White was injured at the 9:20 mark of the third quarter and did not return. Jacksonville’s defense provided key stops, especially late. The Jags sacked Titans QB Vince Young 4 times; they also recovered a botched snap and intercepted a Young pass with 1:14 left in the game to seal the win for Jacksonville.
Gray had a disappointing outing, going 13-for-23 for 101 yards and a touchdown; but to be fair, it looked like the Jags didn’t need much from him today. Drew rushed for 101 yards and a TD, while also catching 3 balls for 28 yards. The Titans were led by QB Vince Young, who went 24-for-41 for 257 yards with a passing TD and 2 INT’s. Young also led all Titans rushers with 52 yards on only 8 carries. Tennessee wide receiver Justin Gage caught 7 passes for 90 yards, with a TD. Jacksonville (6-3) returns home to host the San Diego Chargers next Sunday, while Tennessee, also 6-3, fly to Denver to take on the Broncos next Monday night.
