“The Juice” and two purported co-conspirators are to appear in court in Las Vegas today to answer felony charges in an alleged armed robbery. Simpson, The former Heisman Trophy winner, NFL and movie star is implicated in the armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station Casino Hotel. The men are charged with 11 criminal counts including conspiracy, armed robbery, armed kidnapping, armed burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and coercion with a deadly weapon. Simpson’s co-defendants in the case are Clarence Stewart and Charles Ehrlich. Armed with at least two guns, they allegedly burst into a hotel room on September 13th and took sports memorabilia Simpson claims belonged to him.
According to KNBC.com, Simpson’s attorney says he won’t present any witnesses at the preliminary hearing. Instead, the defense will save the witnesses for trial, if there is one. The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there’s enough evidence to proceed to trial. The prosecution is expected to produce witnesses to try to move the case forward. If Simpson and his alleged co-conspirators go to trial and are convicted, they could face sentences as long as life in prison.
