I really thought that the Jaguars were ready to make that next step last Monday night, Boy was I ever on the wrong page on that call! Other than that another better than .500 week and a healthy margin so far as we reach the season’s almost midway mark. Well onto another week in the NFL:
WEEK SEVEN RECORD: 8-6
SEASON RECORD: 58-45
WEEK EIGHT PICKS:
Indianapolis @ Carolina: Indianapolis 30 Carolina 19: Colts have to be careful not to look past Carolina, as they have the Patriots coming on November 4. According to reports David Carr is supposed to get the start over Vinny Testaverde in Carolina, I have the Feeling Vinny will end the game being the QB for the Panthers.
Detroit @ Chicago: Detroit 28 Chicago 21: Okay two weeks ago I go with Griese he lets me down. Last week I pick the Eagles he wins the game in the closing seconds. Well that alone should tell me this will be his losing week, but I will bring logic into the choice as well. Lions beat the Bears in week four 37-27 in Detroit.
Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati: Pittsburgh 34 Cincinnati 21: Pittsburgh lost a heartbreaker last week in Denver, Cincinnati who rarely play well against the Steelers will feel the brunt of their wrath in Week 8.
NY Giants @ Miami: NY Giants 38 Miami 21: Put away your hot dogs nacho’s and pizza, and grab some fish and chips as the NFL travels to merry old London. When NFL Europa died I told you it was the first step in establishing NFL teams in Europe, here is step two! This has been designated a home game for the Dolphins, with Cleo Lemon as your QB there is no home field advantage until extended garbage time which started last week against the Patriots at halftime. Plaxico is having a career year, and Tom Coughlin has turned into Santa Claus over night!
Philadelphia @ Minnesota: Philadelphia 24 Minnesota 9: Tavaris Jackson questionable for the Vikings, Donovan ticked off after Griese heroics last week = long game for Minnesota
Cleveland @ ST.Louis: ST. Louis 27 Cleveland 10: ST. Louis has to win sometime right? Plus Cleveland gets the hat trick if Browns lose this weekend, after Cavaliers get embarrassed by Celtics, and Indians blow 3-1 lead to Red Sox in the A.L.C.S.
Oakland @ Tennessee: Tennessee 31 Oakland 12: Welcome Back Vince Young, Daunte is crying the blues already in Raidersland, Raiders fan will be crying him with him after the game.
NY Jets @ Buffalo: NY Jets 27 Buffalo 10: This is the matchup when Mangini Magic died, the Jets rediscover it this week. New Bills starter Trent Edwards reign is brief in Buffalo.
Houston @ San Diego San Diego 31 Houston10: Chargers regenerate San Diego after the week of destruction by the fires that swept the area.
Jacksonville @ Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay 13 Jacksonville 12: Both these teams let be down big time last week. But with Garrard being out I’ll give the nod to the Bucs.
TRAP GAME: Washington @ New England: New England 27 Washington 13: This is the game that you hope that the Patriots don’t take for granted. They have been looking forward to their rematch against the Colts on November 4, since last season ended. Keep your mind on the present guys the future will be here soon enough!
New Orleans @ San Francisco: New Orleans 24 San Francisco 17: I said in my column two weeks ago that I was jumping off the Saints bandwagon and I’m not getting back on. But I do like what they have accomplished the last two weeks, plus the fact I was right last week picking the Saints to win and the Niners to lose so will stick with the hot hand.
MONDAY NIGHT GAME
Green Bay @ Denver: Denver 28 Green Bay 20: Sorry Brett, you have had a courageous year, but all the numbers point against your team winning on a Monday night in Denver.
