According to the Associated Press, Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident with 2 women in a bar this summer; this has been confirmed by Barnett’s lawyer Avi Berk who added, “We will enter not-guilty pleas to the two charges and will defend these charges aggressively.”
The Packers, who have monitored the situation almost since Day 1, have declined to comment. The 2 misdemeanor charges carry a combined penalty of 6 months in jail and a $2,000 fine. National Football League spokesman Randall Liu has said that the case is subject to league review under the terms of the league’s personal-conduct policy.
