The following is a paid review:
In today’s day and age when safety is at the upmost of the league, a few players have begun starting to use a new football helmet that also has a new piece of equipment that will help in keeping them safe on the field. The Schutt ION 4D is a new helmet that has been worn by players such as Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, wide out Amani Toomer, and O-lineman Shaun O’Hara. What the helmet has on it is a faceguard that is actually on the helmet shell, not attached to it. The faceguard has shock absorbing “Energy Wedges” that take away the force of impacts to the faceguard.
Unlike some of the older helmets, this faceguard is much stronger than other faceguards. It also lasts longer than other, older versions of current faceugards that are still worn today. What makes the helmet so new is the fact that it is uses a new type of cushioning material known as SKYDEX, that is much better than the old traditional padding. The SKYDEX2 is yet another type of cushioning that the helmet can use that outperforms traditional foam in every aspect of hemet performance.
One other positive aspect for players to wear this helmet is how comfortable it is. The ION 4D is easy to wear and is fits very well right after it comes out of the box. There is no need to have to break the helmet in. The shell was also designed to be smaller in appearance to make it more appealing than those bulker helmets of old. Along with a number of NFL players wearing the helmet, there are 11 top college programs that are active in wearing the helmet, including Virgina, Syracuse, and Penn State.
Look for the Schutt ION 4D helmet to be the next big helmet in the pros, as more players start to look for more comfort as well as better protection in today’s game on the field.
