Young leads Titans to 31-14 win over winless Saints
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans
The New Orleans Saints (0-3), even with their offensive firepower, cannot seem to catch a break these days. Even the Saints fans who were in attendance at tonight’s game showered boos on the team who were considered saviors in the once-battered city. That aside, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young once again bested Saints running back Reggie Bush, passing for 2 touchdowns in leading the Titans to a 31-14 victory over the downtrodden Saints.
The Saints rallied from an early 10-0 deficit to lead 14-10 midway through the third quarter on a Bush’s 2nd TD run. While Titans RB’s Chris Brown and LenDale White handled the bulk of the Titans’ go-ahead drive, it was Young who lasered a 10-yard pass to wide receiver Eric Moulds who was pushed out of bounds at the Saints 1 yard line. White plunged into the end zone to put the Titans (2-1) ahead to stay.
Saints QB Drew Brees had another abysmal effort, going 29-for-45 for 225 yards but threw 4 interceptions. Brees has now thrown 1 TD, while throwing 7 interceptions this season. The Titans’ run defense held the Saints running game in check, allowing only 34 yards; Bush led the Saints with 15 yards. Young was efficient, passing for 164 yards and 2 TD’s while running for 21 yards. The Titans have a bye week as do the Saints.
