Week 1 Preview, New England at New York Jets
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under New England Patriots, New York Jets
The New York Jets couldn’t have possibly gotten a worse opponent to face this week than the New England Patriots. I don’t think even Joe Namath can pull a rabbit out of the hat for the Jets this week. Things to look for:
Tom Brady should be able to exploit the Jets secondary with his plethora of wide receivers; the big question is who has the best stats of the Pats’ receivers? Pats’ running back Laurence Maroney should do well, too. Expect from Maroney around 20-23 carries, 95-105 yards and one touchdown. In the meantime, Jets QB Chad Pennington will not do well today at Jets/Giants Stadium.
Pennington will be on his rear more than he would like and the Pats’ secondary should be good for 2 picks this week, none of them by Asante Samuel. The only bright I see (if you want to call it a bright side) is that Jets RB Thomas Jones will rush for between 90-100 yards today. Unfortunately, that will not be enough to push the Jets on to victory. The Patriots in a relatively easy win.
