RB Chris Brown leads Tennessee to 13-10 win over Jacksonville

But today he was a non-factor as Titans running back Chris Brown ran for 175 yards and the team rushed for a franchise record 282 yards against what is usually a stout Jacksonville Jaguars defense in a 13-10 win over the Jags at Alltel Stadium.

The Jaguars, pure and simple, were ineffective on the ground; RB Maurice Jones-Drew ran for only 32 yards on seven carries and Fred Taylor was even worse – 6 carries for only 16 yards. Jaguars QB David Garrard had a mediocre debut, going 17-for-30 for 204 yards and a TD. Meanwhile, Titans QB Vince Young went 11-for-18 for 78 yards with a rushing TD.

No real offensive fireworks of note, other than the Titans’ rushing game; Jacksonville’s previous high for rushing yards allowed was against Seattle back in 2005 when they allowed 246 yards. Tennessee’s previous rushing high until today was when they were the Houston Oilers; they rushed for 279 against the Miami Dolphins back in 1967. The Titans next play the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts in their home opener while the Jaguars play the winless Atlanta Falcons.
