Jaguars Add CB Aaron Glenn to Secondary

The Jaguars added some depth to their secondary on Monday, as they added recently released corner Aaron Glenn to their roster.  Glenn was let go by the Cowboys on Saturday in one of the more surprising roster moves of the weekend.  The 35-year-old can play in the nickel or dime coverage situations for the Jags, and will bring a lot of experience to the secondary.  The current nickel back for the Jags is Terry Cousin, who has been around for 11 seasons, and last year with the Jags had 35 tackles and one interception for 16 yards.

Glenn, the 13-year-vet and three-time Pro Bowl defensive back adds 196 games worth of experience to the Jags backfield.  He has 40 career interceptions and five forced fumbles.  Last season with Dallas he appeared in all 16 games, registering 20 tackles, and one pick.  Glenn has one pick in 12 straight seasons, and now he will try to continue that streak with the Jags.  He was a first-round pick of the Jets back in 1994, playing 8 seasons there before moving to the Texans for one year in 2002, and then playing with the Cowboys last season.

The team released O-lineman Tutan Reyes to make room for Glenn.  Details of the deal for Glenn was not released.

    I’m still having a hard time trying to figure out why the Cowboys would let this guy go with out problems of depth and injury at the cornerback position. Either one of two things happened.

    1) The Cowboys have a surpise trading coming up this week that will ad two great cornerbacks.

    2) Aaron Glenn got caught sleeping with someone’s wife.

    Either way, we are going to end up with a defensive back that doesn’t belong in the NFL trying to cover Plaxico next Sunday night.

    Great move, huh?
