As the old saying goes, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, if what he showed on Friday night means anything, looked like the McNabb of old against the Carolina Panthers on Friday night. McNabb’s numbers looked like this: 6 for 9, 138 yards, and a touchdown, all of this in 4 drives down the field. Not bad for his first start coming back from knee surgery.
As you would expect, McNabb was wearing that bulky knee brace on his right knee, but that apparently did not affect his effectiveness on the field at all. He’ll have plenty of time to leave the pocket and make a long run or two this season, but according to McNabb as told to The Associated Press, “It wasn’t a test for me at all. I already know I can play this game and play at a high level.” OK Donovan, we get the hint. Apparently, Eagles head coach liked what he saw in McNabb, as well.
The next couple weeks should give us a better indicator of which McNabb we see this season. And God forbid – if McNabb gets injured again – the Eagles do have a capable backup in A.J. Feeley. Next Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers should provide a stiffer test for McNabb and his right knee, and I suspect that the Steelers will plan accordingly. And the game, in my opinion, will be must-see TV – McNabb vs. Big Ben.

Isn’t Donavan Mcnabb wearing a knee brace that looks like this? I know that Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning both wear this knee brace from DonJoy.
Check out http://www.betterbraces.com – they show Carson Palmer wearing a Donjoy knee support
