Jets and Revis Close to Deal
Posted by Jim Dubenetzky under New York Jets
The New York Jets are close to an agreement with rookie cornerback Darrelle Revis. Revis was selected 14th in the draft
and he and JaMarcus Russell are the only first round picks still holding out. Revis’ agent Neil Schwartz told The Associated Press, “We’ve made major, substantial progress.” Schwartz was unsure if a deal would be signed Tuesday night or Wednesday morning but Schwartz and Revis are at Jets’ headquarters working to end the holdout. Schwartz told ESPN Radio, “We’ve made very substantial progress and we’re going to keep working through the night:we think we’ve found a solution.”
The Jets need to get Revis into camp soon. They expect him to compete for the starting job at CB. Considered by many to be the best CB selected in this year’s draft, Revis will likely be an important part of the Jets defense this year.
