GoreInjuries are a part of training camp every year, but the break that took place Monday for the 49′ers puts a big time damper on their early training camp practices.  That break was the one on the top of running back Frank Gore’s hand, as the team announced that Gore will have to miss the first part of preseason.  The good news right now is that the injury does not appear serious enough to stop Gore from being on the field opening day September 9th.

The team will now get a shot to look at some of Gore’s backups, which include Michael Robinson, Maurice Hicks and rookie Thomas Clayton. Gore was hurt in a non-contact drill before the team’s intrasquad scrimmage.  Last season Gore was the biggest offensive weapon for San Francisco, as he ran for 1695 yards in 16 games, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.  He ran for 8 touchdowns, and caught 61 passes for another 485 yards and 1 TD.  As long as Gore is back in time to get some reps for the start of the regular season, he is expected to have another big season in the 9′ers offense.
