Bengal Linebacker Nicholson Arrested for Assault on Woman
Posted by Matt Loede under Cincinnati Bengals, NFL
I guess the whole deal of the Cincinnati Bengals trying to clean up their image is out the
window. Friday, Linebacker A.J. Nicholson was arrested on a domestic violence charge after a woman called 911 on Friday afternoon to say she had been assaulted by Nicholson. The woman, Victoria Johnson, says that Nicholson punched her in the face, and there was swelling around Johnson’s left eye. He was charged with fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Of course this is the first arrest of a Bengal, a team that has been in more legal trouble than any other, since league commish Roger Goodell laid the law down awhile ago.
Goodell has already dealt with two Bengals - wide out Chris Henry, and Linebacker Odell Thurman. Both are already suspended for misconduct. Nicholson was on the list already as one nine Bengals arrested during a nine-month span. When Goodell talks about teams that need to get in line with the League’s policy’s, the Bengals are at the top of the list. Nicholson played his college ball at Florida State, and only played in two games last season due to a hanstring injury.
He is the second Bengal to be charged this season. “We’re still trying to gather information about what happened,” said Jack Brennan, a spokesman for the Bengals.
